If It Saves Just One

on

Under the guise of “compassion,” “civility,” “fairness” and “justice,” the left often poses arguments to propel an agenda. Proponents of gun control argue that the cause is worthy even if it is effective in saving only one life. Abortion advocates often posit to pro-lifers that abortion is necessary for instances of incest and rape, even when the percentages of these cases are relatively minute. Last week, House Majority Leader Jeff McCabe refused to address a bill (LD 1652) proposed by Governor LePage that has the potential of saving countless lives in Maine from victimization by jihad.

LD 1652 is a measure to expose illegals in our state and the sanctuary cities that would otherwise provide them cover. Democrats like Representative Gideon (District 48) would have us believe that verification of immigration status is racist and coercive.

Motorists must provide law enforcement with proper documentation during routine traffic stops. Is it racist or coercive when the officer states “license and registration please?” Try pleading your case next time you have flashing blue lights behind you and Maine’s finest at your driver side window. Tell the polite officer that you suspect coercion or racism to be the reason for the traffic stop. E-mail Sara.Gideon@legislature.maine.gov about your experience. Good luck with that!

The bombings in Brussels last week offer us a sobering reminder of current conditions in our world. Geert Wilders, a Dutch political leader, suggested that “we ain’t seen nothing yet” when it comes to Islamic terror. Headlines warn of ISIS operatives, roughly 400 to 600 of them, living in the shadow of European communities. Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, leader of ISIS, has promised to be sending operatives to a city near you. They are in all fifty states (or is it 57 Mr. President?).

Meanwhile, liberal legislators in Augusta aren’t interested in “civil discourse” on this issue. They voted unanimously to table legislation that could be used to enhance the sanctity and security of Maine. Liberal legislators are busy imposing constraints on the liberty of the producers in our state, from fuel tax, to death tax, to alternative energy boondoggles like solar panels. They won’t be bothered with LD 1652 because it is contrary to their worldview. What if it saves just one of us from becoming a victim?

For the democrat representatives in the house, in the name of “civility,” can you muster up just a little “compassion” for those of us concerned about the threat? Can’t we just have “dialogue” about the issue? I thought the democrats were concerned about the freedom of speech? Why not permit discussion on the issue? Why not allow “justice” to prevail? Why have you voted to allow Majority Leader McCabe to hold this bill hostage?

Representative Jeff McCabe (District 107) tabled LD 1652 unassigned, meaning he has laid it down to die in silence. The same week, he allowed LD 1649 (a forty pager on solar panels) to sail right through the House.

I’d like to ask the reader, given the recent beheadings, given the bombings, given the mass round up of sex slaves, given the rape of Europe, given the conditions in Libya, Egypt, Syria, Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan, which do you think poses a greater threat, man-made global warming or Islamic jihad? Please e-mail your answer to Jeff.McCabe@maine.legislature.gov. Let him know how you feel about maintaining your freedom.

Oh, and by the way, in case you were not aware of this small fact, the illegals are taking advantage of the welfare safety net (or if you prefer, the welfare hammock). This effectively means that the diligent producers of Maine may possibly be funding jihad in a city or town near you.

The Tsarnaev brothers (of Boston Marathon bombing fame) have provided a primer on how to effectively wage civilization jihad upon a willing host. The same lesson is being taught now in classrooms all across Europe, from Paris to Brussels. I say we shut the door on jihad.

Ours is a representative republic. Let’s act like it. The time is now.
