Bangor police officers arrested a man early Wednesday morning after he reportedly punched a dog, assaulted its owner, and spat on police officers.
Police responded to Front Street at around 2:00 a.m. after reports that Dirk Weber, 34, of Bangor had punched a dog. When the dog’s owner tried to intervene, Weber allegedly assaulted him.
Officers found the victim with visible injuries. Weber was allegedly uncooperative with officers, and became more disorderly when they told him he would be issued a summons to appear in court on assault charges.
After Weber repeatedly became more belligerent, officers arrested him, and he reportedly spat in the face of one of the arresting officers.
Weber allegedly continued his belligerent behavior even while on his way to the Penobscot County Jail, and reportedly slammed his head against the metal cage in the police cruiser, leaving him with a wound visible in his mugshot.
Weber faces charges for disorderly conduct, assault, assault on a police officer, and refusing to submit to arrest.
