A homeless woman allegedly burglarized cars in the York County Jail parking lot on Wednesday, just minutes after she was released on bail following a warrant arrest.

At around 1:30 p.m., Lisa Adames was released on bail from the York County Jail. Immediately after exiting through the release door, Adames allegedly began wandering around the jail parking lot.

Jail administrative staff saw her from the front office and became suspicious. Shortly after sparking their suspicion, Adames allegedly confirmed the cause of their scrutiny when she began breaking into cars.

Adames reportedly stole cigarettes from one vehicle and took jewelry from a corrections officer’s car.

Administrative staff alerted Chief Deputy Jeremy Forbes to the situation, and he ran to confront Adames, who allegedly fled.

Forbes quickly caught up with Adames, who reportedly resisted arrest and continued to do so until Detective Steven Broy arrived and assisted in taking her into custody.

Adames was returned to jail and faces charges for burglary of a motor vehicle, a felony for Adames due to prior theft convictions, and refusal to submit to arrest.

She is currently being held without bail, with her first court appearance set for Friday.
