Three people have been arrested on drug trafficking charges and for child endangerment after a raid on a Lewiston apartment containing a 9-year-old child resulted in the seizure of a large amount of fentanyl a firearm, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) announced Tuesday.
At about 7 a.m. on Tuesday, MDEA agents, alongside officers from the Lewiston Police Department, executed a search warrant at an apartment at 229 Blake Street in Lewiston.
The search warrant was the result of a month-long investigation into the trafficking of fentanyl and methamphetamine at the apartment, MDEA said.
Inside the apartment, law enforcement located three adults and a 9-year-old child, who was subsequently released to a family member not associated with the Blake Street apartment.
According to MDEA, the Maine Department of Health and Human Services was contacted, and a referral was made regarding safety concerns for the 9-year-old child found in the apartment.
Seized during the search of the apartment was approximately 80 grams of fentanyl packaged for resale, an AK-47 semi-automatic rifle, and $2,500 in suspected drug proceeds.
MDEA estimated the street value of the seized fentanyl at $10,000.
Arrested as a result of the raid for unlawful trafficking in schedule drugs was 24-year-old Dylan Tessier of Lewiston and 63-year-old Normand Tessier, also of Lewiston.
Tamesha Parker, 31, of Lewiston, was arrested for endangering the welfare of a child, a Class D offense.
“The MDEA stands committed to working with all federal, state, county, and local law enforcement partners in order to continue to identify and disrupt drug trafficking organizations who are attempting to distribute illicit drugs like fentanyl and methamphetamine in the State of Maine,” the agency stated Tuesday.
