According to Portland Police, at 2:21 a.m. on Tuesday, officers responded to 1390 Forest Ave. for a report of shots fired.

Located at 1390 Forest Ave is the Meadowbrook affordable apartment building, which according to the Portland Housing Authority is part of a project-based voucher program for elderly and disabled residents, and families with dependents.

Upon arrival at the apartment building, officers discovered a 17-year-old juvenile who was suffering from a gunshot wound.

The juvenile was transported to Maine Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, but is now in stable condition, police said Tuesday morning.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
