A Maine doctor has been arrested and charged with sex trafficking after being accused of running an illicit massage business as a front for prostitution.

Peter O’Donnell, 68, of Yarmouth, was taken into custody by police Thursday morning after police searched both his doctor’s office on Forest Falls Drive in Yarmouth, and a Freeport massage parlor police say was serving as a front for prostitution.

The execution of the two search warrants Thursday morning came as a joint investigation by the Freeport and Brunswick police departments.

“Sex trafficking remains a serious issue across the nation, and Maine is not immune. This case highlights how some individuals misuse power, wealth, or influence to exploit others,” the Brunswick Police Department said in a news release.

O’Donnell was transported to the Cumberland County Jail where his bail was set at $2,500.

His arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 7, 2025.

According to state records, O’Donnell has been an actively licensed medical doctor in the state of Maine since 1993.

What else could he do? Just a few years ago we learned that a ZUMBA business wouldn’t work as a sex shop. The Chinese have grow houses sewn up. Not everyone is going to appreciate innovation and entrepreneurship. He should get a basic participation award ……

He will enjoy his time in prison.
