A Guatemalan illegal alien who was deported under the Trump Administration has been arrested for allegedly setting a sleeping subway passenger on fire, resulting in her death, at a Brooklyn station early Sunday morning, New York City authorities said Sunday.

According to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch, the suspect used a lighter to ignite the clothing of the victim, who was seated near the end of the subway car.

CCTV footage shows the illegal alien, who has yet to be identified, calmly watching from a subway bench as his victim immolates.

Officers on patrol in the station responded to the scene after detecting smoke and extinguished the fire, but the victim was pronounced dead at the site. Her identity has not yet been released.

The suspect is a 33-year-old man who entered the U.S. from Guatemala in 2018, according to a report from the New York Post.

The suspect was later apprehended by transit police after being identified through surveillance footage and body-camera recordings. Officials say he was wearing the same paint-splattered clothing seen in the video when he was detained on another train at Herald Square.

The NYPD confirmed that the suspect had previously been detained by Border Patrol agents upon entering the U.S.

The man’s current immigration status was unclear.

Authorities believe the suspect and the victim were strangers, and investigators continue to process evidence collected from the scene. The attack has drawn widespread condemnation and raised concerns about safety on New York City’s subway system.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) was widely criticized following the horrifying news for releasing a social media campaign touting the safety of NYC’s subway system just one day before the brutal attack.

Kathy Hochul posted this video *yesterday* boasting about how she made the subway safer.

*Today* a woman was burned alive on the subway, another individual was stabbed to death, while another is in the hospital with injuries.

As they walk from the courtroom to the awaiting prison bus , they pass thru a long dark corridor . There is a huge drain in the floor in the center of the hallway . As the prisoner is led over the floor grate a guard comes unseen from behind and puts a 9mm in the back of his head and out the front .
No stress . No fear .Done and over . A twenty five cent solution to a life time of food and housing bills that amounts to many tens of thousands of tax dollars . Seems like a viable alternative to me . Time to decrease the surplus population .
