I read somewhere that the author Pearl Buck once wrote “Hell is other people; Heaven is other people.” Which is very insightful, and brings the “hereafter” to those of us still occupying earthly locales.

It occurred to me that we could enlarge that notion and suggest that “The Devil is other people; and God is other people.” Without getting all philosophical, it’s at least as close to reality as we can have in the way of “direct contact” while we still live.

If you accept that metaphor for sake of discussion, one could argue that the Devil is consolidating his work in the persons of the type described in this article, and several other classes that seem to be wickedly intent on destroying the notions of childhood: growing up normally, being protected by loving adults, and with the freedom to become what you were endowed to be….in a rational pursuit of happiness.

Think of the forces gathered to attack and dominate our precious children:

• those who pursue unrestricted abortion with a religious fervor and crave the ability to take a new life while still in the womb.
• claiming that sex “is assigned at birth,” when that word couldn’t be more deceitful. In fact, sex is determined beginning at conception. And along with that, claiming that infants as young as a year old can have the first recognition that they were “born in the wrong body.”
• perverts like the one in this article, who besides favoring the porno side of things, actually pursue and assault innocents…sometimes in their own families!
• the government education system in which untrained and unqualified “educators” who proselytize innocent young children beginning in elementary grades, and do their best to keep the efforts, and any progress, hidden from parents and/or guardians.
• the major Children’s’ Hospitals and their staffs who have perverted the medical concept of “first, do no harm,” and replaced it with “maximize revenue both near term, and for as long as the experiments are alive.”
• The Drag Queen world, which at one time was a fringe adult entertainment offering, aligning itself with other protagonists to change perceptions of them as just another form of amusement and Happy, Happy, Happy Behavior
• Mandatory and legalized invasion of unisex sports, locker rooms, bathrooms, showers, and other customary divisions of personal and public activities to cater to an extremely small segment of our population that believes their right to make believe they are what they aren’t, no matter how it can harm and otherwise endanger others.
• The myriad ways in which children are being trafficked from the very young on up to satisfy the perversions of gangs, cartels, and individuals who will pay to indulge their sickness, no matter the lifelong harm it does to their victims. They can be used as mules to transport fatally potent drugs, and frequently end up as users for a variety of reasons at the youngest ages.
• The full leap of Academia into a new field of attraction, specialization, and majors, all based on the social fascination and encouragement of what is a mental and or psychological illness. Embrace the revenue and the “prestige” of the postmodern view of sex as distinct from gender expression and various other forms of unnatural proclivities in the “relationship” realm.
• There was a time when tattoos, piercings, and clown colored hair were considered to be the limits of expressing oneself in public, and separating from parental control. Those are now, like, so yesterday, and have been replaced by major, irreversible bodily harm and mutilation, more often than not sold to them by adults with unpure and depraved motivations.
• Throw in “Social Media” which takes the vulnerable into modern era “social diseases,” which instead of STDs that can be treated, is a world of multiple forms of mental illness, often as a lifelong (or short) duration. Student mental health has been declining seriously for decades. Checkout a local college web site and see if you can find the “campus counseling center.” I’ve researched the one at Bowdoin, and they have been overwhelmed by the “needs” and neuroses of the elite students they seek and enroll.

I hate to be trite, but “we have met the enemy, and he is us,” as Pogo once said. And going back to the opening premise of this comment, we are collectively going all in on creating Hell on Earth.
