The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Casco renter, Abdul Hamed Feroze, 40, on Thursday morning after he allegedly stabbed his landlord in the thigh following an altercation.

Deputies arrived on the scene after reports of a stabbing and verified that there had been a physical altercation that escalated to the point of the tenant allegedly stabbing his landlord.

Law enforcement first secured the scene and took Feroze into custody before they were able to provide aid to the landlord.

The sheriff’s department reported that the landlord’s injuries were serious and that he was bleeding significantly. Deputies applied first aid by placing a tourniquet on the victim’s leg while waiting for an ambulance to arrive.

The injured landlord was transported by ambulance to Bridgton Hospital, where he is being treated and is expected to survive.

The sheriff’s department did not provide any details on the cause of the altercation, although they clarified that both the landlord and tenant lived at the address in separate parts of the property.

According to Zillow, the property is a single-family home.

Feroze was transported to the Cumberland County Jail. He is facing Class A felony elevated aggravated assault charges, for which he could be imprisoned for up to a maximum of 30 years.

Notably, Feroze does not appear in Cumberland County Jail records.

According to a 2012 report, Feroze, then 27, was previously arrested in Portland for disorderly conduct.
