A man formerly of Caribou, Maine, was sentenced on Tuesday to eight years in federal prison for the possession of child pornography, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maine announced on Wednesday.
Devin Madigan, 30, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Stacey Neumann in Bangor to eight years in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release. He previously pleaded guilty to possessing child sexual abuse material in February.
Madigan was also ordered to pay $20,500 in restitution.
The investigation into Madigan began in April 2022, with a tip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children from Kik, a messaging and chat application, that a user on the app had uploaded videos containing child sexual abuse material.
According to federal prosecutors, the videos captured the sexual abuse of victims as young as 1 to 3 years old.
Investigators traced the Kik account to Madigan, and a forensic examination of Madigan’s phone revealed images and videos of child sexual abuse material.
The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), alongside the Grafton County (New Hampshire) Sheriff’s Office and the Brewer Police Department.
