A Lewiston juvenile imprisoned in Long Creek, Maine, faced additional charges on Tuesday after he allegedly conspired over the phone to pressure people into confessing to a crime and to commit murder.
The Androscoggin County District Attorney’s Office informed the Lewiston Police Department on Tuesday of suspicious phone conversations between a Lewiston juvenile offender and two other Lewiston residents.
The juvenile allegedly communicated with his girlfriend during monitored phone calls, urging her to pass messages to other associates. He and his associates allegedly discussed pressuring two individuals into confessing to a recent shooting, serious threats of violence, and plans to acquire a firearm to enforce those threats.
After interviewing all involved individuals and discussing the evidence with the District Attorney’s Office, the police charged the juvenile with criminal solicitation of murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Two other Lewiston residents, Shamsi Abdinoor, 18, and Mahad Abdikadir, 18, were also charged with criminal solicitation and conspiracy and faced additional charges of tampering with a witness, informant, juror, or victim.
Both Abdinoor and Abdikadir are being held without bail at the Androscoggin County Jail, while the juvenile remains incarcerated at Long Creek.
