Fresh on the heels of blocking The Maine Wire from one of his “public” events, Democrat Senate hopeful Jordan Wood is now taking incoming fire from his own party.
“Having no events until a single campaign event at the end of August is not going to be enough to beat Susan Collins,” says a Wood supporter named GoddessFiana.
“Does he need staff?” the Goddess asked a Reddit political forum. “I’m pretty good with event logistics.”
Though other Wood “backers” are calling out the Goddess for criticizing his alleged lackluster campaign, they seem to secretly feel her – and apparently his – pain.
“He does a lot of ‘pop up’ events because they’re worried about right wingers showing up and causing problems,” said Daigle4Me. “Which, I get. But when your slogan is ‘courage before concern’ you should be open to that sort of thing.
“Maybe that his events are hard to find would be a much better critique,” added Daigle4Me, who is Jeremy Daigle, himself a hopeful candidate being a good Democrat by (sort of) defending the Wood man on social media.
“Welcome to the Maine Democratic Party, home of the most incompetent group of infighting idiots with no idea how to run a campaign!” says LiteraryAnomaly.
“People need something to vote for and they can’t do that if they don’t know who you are,” the Goddess said, underscoring her belief that Wooden Man is not getting out enough.
“Honestly, I think Susan Collins is unbeatable this election cycle but having only a single night for a campaign stop and it’s just a public ‘ask me anything’ is kinda… not the sort of constant showing a Democrat would need to take down Susan,” the Goddess posited.
Meanwhile, Wood is likely to begin encountering even more questions over his alleged lack of visibility amid growing speculation that Gov. Janet Mills may enter the race.
Axios reported that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is pressuring Maine’s lame-duck chief executive officer to seek the nomination.
Schumer is looking for a heavyweight to be on the 2026 general-election ballot against Republican incumbent Collins.
The Mills name would add a lot more heft from her side of the aisle than a virtual unknown such as Wood (or Daigle).
If Mills were to announce for the Democrat nomination we likely Woodn’t have you know who “to kick around anymore,” to quote an all-time favorite political-farewell line.
