Police initially responded to 14 Tucker Street in Norway following reports of suspicious activity when they discovered Michael Greene, 25, of Bethel, who was wanted on multiple outstanding warrants.
Police did not specify what the warrants were for, other than one for a weapons offense from NH.
Greene reportedly barricaded himself inside an apartment, sparking a standoff that led police to temporarily shut down Tucker Street.
A Maine State Police crisis negotiator arrived and was able to convince Greene to surrender without any further incidents.
He was arrested and transported to Oxford County Jail. He was booked on his outstanding warrants and given additional charges of operating after suspension, being a fugitive from justice, violating conditions of release, creating a police standoff, obstructing government administration, and refusing to submit to arrest.
The Paris Police Department, the Oxford Police Department, and the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the arrest.
The Maine Wire previously reported that Michael Greene of Bethel was arrested on charges of felony theft, refusing to submit to arrest, and violation of conditions of release.
