A Southwest Harbor man pleaded guilty in the U.S. District Court in Bangor to three child pornography charges after he solicited child pornography from two minors.

Gary Peters, 36, of Southwest Harbor, received child pornography charges in October 2023 after he used an unspecified social media site to convince two minors to send him sexually explicit material.

The FBI executed a search warrant at Peter’s Southwest Harbor home on March 27, 2024, and discovered additional child pornography on his cellphone and other devices.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of receiving child pornography and one count of child pornography production.

Peters now faces a minimum prison term of five years, a maximum of 20 years, up to $250,000 in fines, and a potential lifetime of supervised release.
