So much for Democrat Gov. Janet Mills’ warning that this summer’s tourism numbers would be a bust due to Trump.

For the second time in two months Karen’s dire tourism predictions have proven wrong.

Acadia National Park just reported it had more visitors in August than any month since 1989 – nearly 40 years.

The national park on Mount Desert Island saw a record-breaking 842,827 visitors last month, according to data from the National Park Service.

Despite the warnings from Mills about a drop in tourism numbers, Acadia also set a visitation record in July, beating the previous record set August 2021, as The Maine Wire reported three weeks ago.

In July, the park hosted 797,030 visitors.

Total recreation visitors – hikers, campers, and sightseers – are also up 1.9% over this time last year.

So much for Mills’ claims Trump was ruining Maine’s summer season.

August 1989 remains the park’s busiest month on record, with 1,045,060 visitors making the trip to Mount Desert Island.

It was also the park’s busiest year on record, with over 5.4 million visitors, according to NPS data.

Maybe one of the visitors that year was Janet Mills, who at the time was a county district attorney dreaming about setting Maine on fire.
