The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office is searching for an arsonist who allegedly started a fire on Monday at a vacant mill building in Sanford.

On Monday morning at around 9:00 a.m., local fire and law enforcement personnel responded to reports of a fire at the International Woolen Mill in Sanford, which has been vacant for years.
Sanford firefighters arrived to discover heavy smoke and flames engulfing a portion of the mill building.
It took firefighters several hours to extinguish the blaze, but no injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
An investigation conducted at the site revealed that the fire was likely set intentionally, and the Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating it as an arson case.
The Marshal has requested that any members of the public with information on the incident come forward.
The mill building has been under law enforcement monitoring for several years due to concerns about trespassing and potential safety issues.
