The Waterville Police Department is investigating two apparently unrelated shooting incidents that took place on Sunday and Monday, and has made one arrest made so far.

Shortly before 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to reports of a fight on Kennedy Memorial Drive in the parking lot of JFK Plaza. Initial reports suggested that a firearm may have been involved.
Investigators determined that a firearm was involved in the alleged altercation and that it had been discharged multiple times, though they do not believe that anyone was struck by the gunfire.
Law enforcement believes that the parties involved in the fight knew each other.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident, and they say that they will not release any more information until an arrest has been made.
Early the next morning, at around 5:00 a.m. on Monday, police received reports of another altercation, this time at an apartment on 21 Brook Street.
The initial caller reported people shouting at each other, but subsequent calls reported gunshots.
Police arrived and determined that the shooting was allegedly the result of an altercation between the apartment’s resident, James Furrow, 25, of Waterville, and an unnamed 31-year-old man.
Police arrested Furrow, and he faces charges of elevated aggravated assault and reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon.
Law enforcement did not specify whether the other man involved in the alleged altercation was injured.
Police believe that there is no connection between the two shooting incidents.
