Police in Paris, Maine, arrested two alleged drug abusers on Monday while enforcing a writ of possession to remove squatters from a residence.

At around 10:30 a.m., the Paris Police Department, along with the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department and the Norway Police Department, enforced a court-ordered writ of possession at 21 Park Street.

The writ of possession authorized law enforcement to remove the individuals allegedly squatting illegally on the property and return possession of it to its rightful owner.

Law enforcement removed multiple people from the residence and issued them criminal trespass notices forbidding them from returning to the property.

The property was transferred into the custody of a local law firm.

Police arrested two of the alleged squatters, who were subject to outstanding warrants on felony drug charges: Merle Evans, 53, homeless, and Michelle Albert, 52, of West Paris.

Both suspects were transported to the Oxford County Jail.
