The dynastic trials seem to be rearing their ugly heads as a Maine prince-in-waiting delicately shadows The King.
When Democrat gubernatorial hopeful Angus King III was forced to pin his father’s donkey to the wall by a D.C.-based news outlet, it was a case of “now WTF do I do?”
Angus III, in a dog-eat-dog primary for the 2026 election, went the route of equivocation.
Yeah, he said, he’s kinda sorta glad his Daddy helped end the Democrat-created shutdown of the federal government.
“I understand why people are profoundly frustrated with politicians in Washington,” he wrote on Instagram.
“I know that feeling because I feel it too. We want them to do the work without harming millions in the process. No one wins in a shutdown, and it was certainly made clear that Republicans are willing to risk harm, while everyday Mainers lose. And I’ve had enough of it,” the younger King added.
The problem with that milquetoast blather is it’s not the hill that Maine liberals are choosing to die on.
Instead, they’re looking for a rallying cry that goes like this: “We’re keeping the government shut down til we get what we want – more taxpayer-funded pork for our base or we lose in 2026.”
What they want apparently is a campaign pamphlet that says “No Compromise Is A Good Compromise.”
That’s the problem Angus III – son of U.S. Sen. Angus King (I-ME) – is now facing as he battles fellow Dems for the nomination to succeed Democrat Gov. Janet Mills.
The senior King joined the majority voting for a gray-and-white solution designed to get the halls of government humming again.
Liberals are now mad at Daddy King – an “independent” in Democrat clothing – for suddenly not acting like one of them.
And now the son of Daddy is sounding just like…Daddy!
Oops. Big problemo in a Democrat primary for Angus III, who wants the job Daddy had for eight years before he marched on Washington.
