In the early morning, the Sheriff’s Department received reports of alleged vandalism, claiming that the suspect had damaged the storefront along with vehicles parked at the business.

He then reportedly brandished a firearm before fleeing the scene.

Hancock deputies and detectives responded to the scene to investigate. Over the course of the day, they interviewed witnesses and collected evidence.

The investigation led them to identify the suspect as Mark Vallejos, 41, of Deer Isle.

Deputies obtained an arrest warrant for Vallejos on charges of aggravated criminal mischief and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

Late Sunday night into Monday morning, deputies executed a search warrant at Vallejos’ residence and arrested him.

They also collected additional evidence during the execution of the warrant.

Vallejos was transported to the Hancock County Jail.

The Sheriff’s Department did not release a suspected motive behind the incident, and there is no indication that drugs were involved.
