New Hampshire Governor Kelly Ayotte signed an executive order on Thursday aimed at ramping up nuclear energy production in the state to fight growing energy costs for consumers.

“I’ve issued an Executive Order directing our Dept. of Energy to work with lawmakers and industry leaders to foster next-generation nuclear in New Hampshire. Granite Staters’ electric bills are way too high, and we need to expand our energy supply to bring down costs,” said Gov. Ayotte.
In her order, Ayotte pointed out that nuclear energy provides a far more reliable source of power than so-called renewable energy sources like wind and solar, while still reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
“Recent studies indicate that increasing the share of nuclear generation in the overall mix of generation technologies used to power the region’s electricity needs would lead to lower electric rates for consumers than if the region relied on increases in renewable generation such as wind and solar,” said the order.
“Increased use of nuclear generation could significantly reduce regional greenhouse gas
emissions while providing reliable baseload power,” it continued.
The order instructs the NH Department of Energy (DOE) to investigate a variety of topics, such as developer willingness to operate in the state, options to protect ratepayers from costs incurred in the event of production delays, any laws or local ordinances regarding nuclear generation, and strategies for bringing increased nuclear generation to the state.
New Hampshire, unlike its neighboring states of Maine, Massachusetts, and Vermont, already has one operational nuclear power plant, the Seabrook Station Nuclear Power Plant.
Ayotte’s order appeared to take aim at Gov. Janet Mills’ (D-Maine) and other left-wing governors pushing for costly and inefficient energy production methods .
“Rather than a focus on the most cost-effective generation to reduce costs to ratepayers, regional policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions have driven construction of intermittent renewable generation,” said the order.
Under Gov. Mills, Mainers have seen massive energy cost increases. From just 2024-2025, average energy costs in the state rose a staggering 36 percent, the highest one-year energy cost increase in the nation.
Maine is for the rich, people on welfare or an illegals getting everything free. Not for the working people or families.
Obviously the answer is NOT solar panels and windmills. The average Mainer will be paying more and more for those every year.
