PORTLAND, Maine – The Portland Police Department is encouraging prospective officers to sign up for one-on-one virtual meetings with a department recruiter as it looks ahead to its August 2026 Police Academy hiring cycle.

According to a department recruitment notice, Portland PD is offering 30-minute virtual appointments on April 8 with Recruitment Sergeant Castonguay for people interested in learning more about a career with the department.

The meetings are intended to give applicants a chance to speak directly with a recruiter about the hiring process, qualifications, preparation tips, and what to expect as a Portland police officer.

Portland PD said the sessions are designed to provide personalized guidance and answer questions from those seriously considering joining the department. The notice states that appointments must be scheduled in advance and that web conferencing details will be provided upon confirmation.

In its recruitment materials, the department said the April 8 sessions are aimed at helping interested candidates explore the different career paths available within Portland PD and get an early start on preparing for a law enforcement career.

Available appointment times on April 8 include 7:30 a.m., 8:00 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 9:00 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 12:30 p.m., and 1:00 p.m.
