On February 26, the Penobscot Criminal Investigation Division received a tip regarding Shawn Fleming, 19, of Bangor, and the alleged sexual exploitation of a minor.

The sheriff’s department mounted an investigation into the allegations.

During the investigation, law enforcement allegedly determined that child sexual exploitation had taken place over the course of “several” years and that multiple victims were involved.

As a result of the investigation, deputies arrested Fleming on five counts of gross sexual assault, one count of unlawful sexual contact, solicitation of a child to commit a prohibited act, and ten counts of visual sexual aggression against a child.

Fleming was transported to the Penobscot County Jail, where he remains.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the Sheriff’s Department will not be releasing further details.
