The son of U.S. Sen. Angus King Jr. figured it would be funny to announce he was now running for senate instead of governor.

But judging from Facebook reactions Maine voters aren’t laughing at Angus King III’s lame attempt at an April Fool’s prank.

“Today, after careful reflection, conversations with family, and encouragement from supporters across Maine, I am announcing that I will be a candidate for the United States Senate in the upcoming election cycle,” King posted on his Facebook account.

“Not funny,” commented one reader, Marie Barbieri of Brunswick.

“And now can you drop out for real?” asked Seth Schuth.

“Yeah you’re a joke alright,” noted Ed Swift.

“It’s a joke that you’re campaigning for governor,” remarked James Bell of Windham.

King apparently thought April 1 would be a good time to make fun of his campaign but the problem is he’s lagging in the polls.

That’s the catch – he’s doing poorly in the Democrat gubernatorial race so people figured he was serious about dropping out and running for the open Senate seat.

His lame humor actually never said whether he’d be running against the Democrats or as an independent like his daddy Angus Jr., the junior “independent” U.S. senator from Maine.

He’d be up against Graham Platner and Janet Mills, who are competing in the Democrat primary for the seat now held by Republican Susan Collins.

Young Angus tried to joke he was now running for both governor and Senate but as it turned out he’s the real April Fool.

Another Anus King? God help us…. It was bad enough with a freaking Bush-Clinton Crime Family Syndicate member running.
