On Tuesday night, Somerset County Sheriff’s Deputies joined the Fire Marshal’s Office in an arrest of Ashley Taylor, 43, of New Portland on two arrest warrants for arson.
The first warrant stemmed from a fire at a camp at 7 Levi Road in Moscow on June 28, 2023.
Owners discovered a burned building at the address and reported it to police. Following a years-long investigation, Taylor allegedly knew the owner and had a prior disagreement with him.
Law enforcement reportedly developed enough information to charge Taylor with arson for the fire.
The second warrant stemmed from two separate fires on Taylor Pitt Road in New Portland in May 2024.
Taylor allegedly set fire to a building owned by his mother, which was totally destroyed, and a 1987 Fleetwood RV owned by his Nephew.
Taylor was transported to the Somerset County Jail, and bail was set at $100,000 for each of the warrants.
