WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump is scheduled to deliver a national address at 9:00 p.m. ET tonight, Wednesday, April 1, 2026, to provide what the White House has described as an “important update” on the war with Iran.
The address comes after several significant developments this week related to military operations, regional security concerns, and the broader geopolitical situation in the Middle East.
On Tuesday, Trump outlined a potential timeline for the conclusion of U.S. military operations in Iran, stating that operations could end within two to three weeks. He said that “tremendous amounts” of Iranian missile-making facilities have been destroyed and asserted that his primary objective of preventing Iran from developing a nuclear weapon has been achieved.
Trump has also indicated that the United States will not take responsibility for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route. He told allies they must “go get your own oil” and “fend for themselves” when it comes to securing the waterway.
Military activity in the region has continued. Early Wednesday, Israel conducted additional strikes in Tehran, targeting government infrastructure and military housing. At the same time, Iranian drone and missile attacks have reportedly targeted an oil tanker off the coast of Qatar and fuel depots in Kuwait.
Diplomatic tensions remain unresolved. While Trump has stated that the United States is engaged in “serious discussions” with what he described as a “new regime” in Tehran, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has denied that direct negotiations are taking place. He has said Iran is prepared for at least six more months of conflict.
The conflict is also affecting domestic energy markets. Average U.S. gas prices have risen to $4 per gallon, marking the highest levels since 2022. Trump said Tuesday that prices would “come tumbling down” once U.S. forces leave the region.
The White House has not released additional details about the contents of Wednesday night’s address, but officials have indicated the speech will provide updated information on the status of military operations and the administration’s next steps.

He should never have sent our troops there in the first place. Now he looks like an idiot trying to extricate himself from the mess he’s created. Now there are lots of dead people and wrecked infrastructure because this boob listened to his jewish masters. He’s a war criminal. I guess he turned DoD to the appropriate name DoW.
We have been at war with Iran since 1979.
