Emergency crews are responding to a truck that crashed through guardrails and went over the side of Tukey’s Bridge in Portland.

Maine State Police say the truck was traveling northbound on I-295 when it went over the side of the bridge at exit 8 in Portland, falling 45 feet and landing partially in the water of Casco Bay.

It is a 45 foot drop from I-295 to the ocean. Three occupants of the truck were transported the hospital with fortunately only minor injuries. Crews from multiple agencies are on scene assisting. Distracted driver? Vehicle malfuntion? Someone cut him off? Wanted to cool off and wash the truck at the same time? My suggestion is ask the police what they think caused the truck to break through a guard rail next time an article like this is written.
