Portland Police announced Tuesday that a man has been arrested in connection to a January assault and home invasion on Congress Street.

On Jan. 19th, at around 3:18 a.m., police responded to a report of an assault and home invasion at 723 Congress St. in Portland.

Upon arrival, a 62-year-old female told police that someone broke into her apartment and severely beat her, Portland Police said.

Following a month-long investigation, Portland Police arrested 53-year-old Stephen Brichetto on Monday, Feb. 19.

Brichetto was charged with Aggravated Assault and Burglary and booked at Cumberland County Jail, according to Portland Police spokesperson Brad Nadeau.
