Angus King Wants American Military Using “Off the Shelf” Gear While Biden Admin Sends Ukraine Billions

"Often the Pentagon feels they have to have a custom item rather than an off-the-shelf item that will meet 80 or 90 percent of the need," said King.

During a hearing in the Senate Armed Forces Committee, U.S. Sen. Angus King (I-Maine), a top proponent of sending billions of American taxpayer dollars to Ukraine, suggested that taxpayer funds could be handled better if the Department of Defense used cheaper, “off-the-shelf” products for military needs.

“I suggested that many consumer products could meet some Pentagon needs — we don’t need to spend more money re-inventing the wheel. That’s one way we can be more responsible with taxpayer dollars as we continue building out our defense capabilities,” said Sen. King on X.

King argued that U.S. military personnel should content themselves with products that meet “80-90 percent” of their needs in the name of saving taxpayer money.

At the same time, he serves as Kyiv’s most vocal advocate on the Senate Intelligence Committee, urging U.S. taxpayers to continue backing multi-billion-dollar aid package for the Ukrainian armed forces.

“Often the Pentagon feels they have to have a custom item rather than an off-the-shelf item that will meet 80 or 90 percent of the need,” said King.

While advocating for less specialized equipment for our military, King has continued to push for sending state-of-the-art military equipment to Ukraine.

Since the outset of the Russo-Ukraine War, King has been a top advocate for sending billions of taxpayer dollars to the Zelenskyy Regime, despite numerous reports from mainstream media outlets and Ukraine’s own security service that top Ukrainian officials have been embezzling those funds.

He has also repeatedly denied, including under direct questioning from the Maine Wire, that American aid to Ukraine has been misused or embezzled in the notoriously corrupt country.

Earlier this month, King told The Maine Wire that he had heard no reports of embezzlement, before advocating for seemingly unceasing aid to Ukraine.

“I know of no such allegations,” said King speaking to The Maine Wire, “The data that I’ve seen is that it’s been very carefully handled, and most of the money for Ukraine is going into the U.S. economy.”

.@SenAngusKing told me in an interview that he had heard no reports of Ukraine embezzling any foreign aid funds, and that the money was handled "very carefully." Ukraine has arrested multiple officials, including a defense minister, for embezzling.

Anus King I guess doesn’t realize that sending money to Ukraine is just pouring money down a rathole. Wasted just to keep the killing going and of course get those big donations from the MIC. Then again he may know it but cynically continues to support this misguided policy.

Marxist tool.
Wanna bet he’s getting something from the money laundering?
This guy does nothing unless there’s something in for himself.
Just look at his green energy scam when he was Guv.
As bad as Baldacci was after him, King left the state deeply in debt. Baldacci and LePage got to deal with King’s destruction of the coffers.
