Maine Democrats, a category that includes Sen. Angus King, regardless of what his alleged political pronouns are, have failed a fundamental test. By failing to condemn the radical injustice that played out in New York City this week, they have shown disdain for America’s traditional justice system and the U.S. Constitution. The mask is off, and they are revealed to be shamelessly lustful for partisan power.
On Thursday, one of the most ludicrously corrupt show trials in the history of criminal justice reached it’s inevitable, preordained conclusion: a jury of New York City liberals found former President Donald Trump guilty on 34 counts of… well … what exactly? The jurors and voting public don’t really know. But he’s guilty! He’s a felon!
Too briefly explain the fundamental, anti-democratic nature of the case, here’s what Sen. Susan Collins, a Republican who has never been enthusiastic about Trump, had to say:
“It is fundamental to our American system of justice that the government prosecutes cases because of alleged criminal conduct regardless of who the defendant happens to be. In this case the opposite has happened. The district attorney, who campaigned on a promise to prosecute Donald Trump, brought these charges precisely because of who the defendant was rather than because of any specified criminal conduct. The political underpinnings of this case further blur the lines between the judicial system and the electoral system, and this verdict likely will be the subject of a protracted appeals process.”
In other words, a Democrat activist district attorney, Alvin Bragg, acted out the philosophy of Soviet secret police chief Lavrentiy Beria, who infamously said, “Show me the man and I’ll show you the crime.”
Lest there be any dispute about whether Bragg campaigned on a “Get Trump” platform, here’s an excerpt from a congressional report that includes comments he made on the campaign trail.
Maine Wire columnist Josh Filler offers an excellent summation of the iniquities present in the case in his Friday column:
“To demonstrate what a kangaroo court Trump was up against, consider the following. The prosecutors were either Joe Biden donors or former Biden appointees at the Justice Department. The judge was a Biden donor, in violation of New York State ethics rules, and the Manhattan jury was comprised of Biden voters. As to the latter, there is a saying in trial practice that cases are won and lost at jury selection. In Donald Trump’s situation, the case was decided when the venue was chosen. Joe Biden won Manhattan with 86 percent of the vote in the 2020 election. Trump received just 12 percent and as such sought to have the trial moved to Staten Island, a more balanced playing field, but was denied by the judge. From that Manhattan pool of potential jurors, Trump’s goose was cooked before the kitchen even opened.
“The full list of reversible errors committed by the judge in this case is too long to review thoroughly here. However, a quick snapshot includes not recusing himself after it was found he donated to Joe Biden, not requiring Trump to be indicted by a grand jury for all of the crimes he was prosecuted and convicted of in violation of the Fifth Amendment, and not requiring the prosecution to specify in writing what crimes Trump was being prosecuted for in violation of the Sixth and Fourteenth Amendments.“
The decision should have been met with bipartisan condemnation. Had something similar happened to former President Barack Obama in, say, Texas, can there be any doubt that Collins and a fair share of Republicans would have similarly condemned the absurdity? But we’re dealing with New York, with Trump, and with a modern day Democratic Party that seems solely animated by hatred for Trump — and his supporters.
So instead of condemning an obviously rigged and unfair trial, pols in solidly blue districts jumped for joy, while the Democrats with more moderate districts issued mealy mouthed mishmash and word salad.
Rep. Chellie Pingree, a far left Democrat up to her eyeballs in progressive dark money, predictably gloated that the trial was “fair.” Of course, she also thought it was “fair” when her ex-sugar daddy S. Donald Sussman bought out the Portland Press Herald as a wedding gift.
Count Rep. Jared Golden in the mishmash category. Here’s what he had to say:
“In this case, former President Trump has had his day in court and has been found guilty by a jury of his peers. I respect the jury’s decision. As to the many questions I’ve received about the politics of this decision, let me say this: As of today, Donald Trump is the Republican candidate for president. I have no doubt that information about this verdict will feature in the campaign. I trust the people of Maine with their votes.”
A keen reader will note that Golden totally elides over the Democrat corruption that manufactured this fraudulent case and its outcome. Golden respect’s the jury’s decision, but has no comment on the tortured jury instructions which the corrupt judge wouldn’t even allow jurors to have in writing. Unlike Collins, Golden doesn’t acknowledge that the process behind Trump’s “day in court” totally perverted the traditional system of justice in America.
While Golden has been a moderate in D.C. in some regards, his failure to condemn a plainly crooked trial shows that he’s more interested in shining the shoes of wealthy leftist donors than in what is right. To win re-election, the numbers suggest Golden needs at least a few Trump voters to back him. Good luck with that now, buddy! This is a statement that will be — and should be — disqualifying for many voters in the Second Congressional District.
If Golden’s limp-wristed mush wasn’t enough, the leftist junior senator from Maine took a break from fluffing Volodymyr Zelenskyy to deliver an even more pathetic line:
“Today in New York City an event took place that was historic: a former President found guilty on felony charges – an incredibly consequential decision after weeks of evidence and testimony. However, the event was also a typical day in courthouses across the country —12 men and women, from all walks of life, coming together to do their civic duty. As we face a world of uncertainties and conflict, the infrastructure of our shared American identity remains sturdy so long as we are vigilant in remembering our founding principles, including equal justice under the law.”
King, who has always cosplayed as some pseudo-intellectual professor, thinks this trial is a learning moment. He’s right, but not for the reasons he imagines.
The trial is a moment for right of center Americans and independents to realize that the left has utterly abandoned any pretense of respect for the U.S. Constitution, for tradition, or for the “norms” about which they prattled endlessly while Trump was in the White House. From Secretary of State Shenna Bellows attempting to unilaterally remove Trump from Maine’s ballot to make Rachel Maddow happy, to the coordinated lawfare against the former president, the people screeching loudest about “saving democracy” seem not to care much for it.
One American proud to vote for a convicted felon!
By supporting open boarders they have shown their disrguard for American laws and should be voted out of office
What a sad day for Lady Justice and our constitution. If people are not shocked by the banana republic tactics that resulted in this travesty of justice, all may be lost for the future of our children and grandchildren.
Only under a psychopathic president could such lawlessness and chaos have won out over law and order.
Well ,at this point and time, our government officials who do or say nothing about this are either totally evil and totally corrupt , or blackmailed by the Marxists who control them and to ashamed for what their being blackmailed for to come out against the ILLEGAL UNCONSTITUTIONAL take over of our country. Which is EXACTLY what we are WATCHING !!!! TO quote Ben Franklin, “our consutional republic is for a moral honest people. ” which the UNI-PARTY IS NOT!
TRUMP 2024
Remember to VOTE this coming November AGAINST useless Pingree, do-nothing King, and feckless Golden!
Maine taxpayers will have an opportunity to restore Maine to “the way life should be” by voting for, either Piantidosi or Russell, instead of Minnesota’s home grown, Chellie; energetic Demi Kazounas instead of tired old King; and driven Austin Theriault against wishy-washy Golden.
At no other time has it been more important for citizens to go to the polls and vote! Maine citizens can choose to either take back their dwindling power at the ballot box; or they can relax, sit back, and passively watch as their rights are stripped from right under their noses.
Voting for Trump for President, and for Golden’s opponent
Mr. Robinson, sir —
I enjoy reading the Wire to find a different perspective. I offer two cents, IMHO:
Again, my two cents (or three). I mean no disrespect, even though I question your near-personal attacks on an elected official and the risk of creating an echo chamber as an editor of this website. I sincerely wish you well, and I welcome your feedback.
Ugh! Sorry: a 100% chance for a few (less than 10) felonies to be successfully accepted to the federal appellate system. Old timers…
