Joe Baldacci: “Republicans Won’t Get My Vote Again Until MAGA Is Dead and Buried”

State Sen. Joe Baldacci (D-Penobscot) is among vehement critics of former President Donald Trump now sending his prayers to the 2024 Republican presidential nominee following his attempted assassination on Saturday.

But a review of Baldacci’s social media posts shows the Bangor area pol has frequently highlighted extreme anti-Trump rhetoric, including a meme calling for “MAGA” to be “Dead and Buried”.

Baldacci has also reposted several videos from anti-Trump former Republican Adam Kinzinger, who left Congress for a gig in cable news as a token GOP talking head.

Kinzinger has emerged as one of the more extreme anti-Trump voices, regularly calling Trump a “danger to democracy” — calls Baldacci has been eager to echo.

As far back as 2017, Baldacci alleged in a Facebook post that Trump was “engaging in an assault on democracy and a free press.”

Baldacci also emerged as one of the top election deniers in 2018, regurgitating baseless conspiracy theories about a foreign conspiracy to thwart the election of Hillary Clinton in 2016.

“This wasn’t meddling this was a well funded highly coordinated conspiracy to attack America’s democracy,” Baldacci said.

“It is like the Japanese bombing Pearl Harbor and America not responding to it,” he said.

An lengthy independent investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller found no evidence to suggest the claims made by Baldacci and other national figures were true.

In a 2022 post, Baldacci commemorated the anniversary of the Jan. 6 Capitol Hill riots by reminding his followers America’s “domestic” enemies still needed to be defeated.

“[W]e need to defeat the enemies of America and democracy, enemies that are both foreign and domestic,” Baldacci wrote.

“Russia committed warfare on American democracy and Trump doesn’t care bec he knew full well this was integral to his election,” Baldacci alleged in another post.

Ironically, Baldacci boosted allegations from the Biden campaign in a March 31 post claiming that Trump was “inciting political violence” against Biden by sharing a funny video of Biden getting hog-tied.

Baldacci has also shared memes alleging that Trump is a rapist, and that he “hates disabled veterans and [prisoners of war]”.

Following the assasination attempt, however, Baldacci is singing a different tune, praying for the well-being of the man he apparently believes is a violent rapist, a threat to democracy, a co-conspirator in a grand Russian plot to rig elections, and whose political supporters he wants “dead and buried.”
