A routine traffic stop on I-295 in Richmond on Dec. 28 turned into a major drug bust, leading to the arrest of two men allegedly trafficking fentanyl, cocaine base, and prescription narcotics.

According to the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Department, deputies seized more than 100 grams of fentanyl, 51 grams of cocaine base, and 100 OxyContin pills during the late-night operation near Exit 43.

At approximately 10:08 p.m., a deputy stopped a vehicle for a defective headlight while working an impaired driving detail. The vehicle’s operator, who was unlicensed, and the passenger, who owned the car, quickly drew the deputy’s suspicion.

The deputy called for backup and began a search of the vehicle, uncovering the substantial drug haul.

The suspects, identified as Brian M. McNeil, 52, of Eddington, and Harlin C. Guerrero, 22, a transient, face multiple counts of aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs, a Class B felony.

Both men were transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset. McNeil is being held on $5,000 cash bail, with a court date set for March 6, 2025.

Guerrero, who is also being held on a detainer for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), faces a $15,000 cash bail and a court date on March 8, 2025.

Sagadahoc County deputies were joined in the investigation by the Maine State Police and the Maine Drug Enforcement Administration. The case remains under investigation.

    Good catch Sherriffs Dept!!!
Thank you Mainewire for mentioning the ICE status. Media seems to be shying away from that these days, but how are we viewers supposed to comprehend the depth of the problem if we aren’t made aware of it in the news! Thank you again!

150 deaths every day from Fentanyl in America. This asshole gets $5000 bail. Let that roll around in your heads for a while.

Narcotics scanner devices should be used to scan every property on a road on which a narcotics offender has been found. McNeil probably has fourteen neighbors who are doing the exact same thing. It’s the only way drug people will ever be cleared out of towns like Eddington.

Meth user at #15 as well as renters in blue apt comp will alert stoney ridge rd residents to police presence. Black jeep bad muffler also alerts narcotics selling residents on this rd, which it patrols from as early as 5AM
