Now THAT’S Moxie: Canadian Family Cancels Maine Vacay, Blames Trump

A Canadian family that was planning its annual foray to the Maine Moxie Festival is canceling, blaming President Trump.

Conrad Gregoire of Kanata, Ontario, said his family of 12 is sick and tired of Trump calling Canada the 51st state.

Loyal Maine defenders had a quick retort.

“Just a spoiled lefty,” said Facebooker Mathew Field. “That’s not how most Canadians feel.”

Jared Levesque of Jay called Gregoire’s whining “ridiculous.”

The Gregoire family was hoping to go to the popular yearly Moxie festival in Lisbon, Maine, but it’s pulled the plug out of Trump pique.

“Our prime minister went to Mar-a-Lago to meet with President Trump and to inform him that Canada had decided to spend $1.8 billion on increased border controls, aimed at curbing illegal immigration,” Gregoire said. “President Trump took this opportunity to ridicule our prime minister by repeatedly referring to him as the ‘governor of the great state of Canada.’”

Seems Trump in Canada is about as divisive as is Moxie in Maine, where natives are famously divided on its taste.

The primary reason for Moxie’s unique taste is the gentian root extract, which gives it a slightly bitter-though-herbal quality.

Moxie was designated the official soft drink of the of Maine in 2005 by Gov. John Baldacci.

The soda was created in 1884 by a Maine native, physician Augustin Thompson of Union, and is among the first sodas ever to be produced.

“And quite possibly the worst tasting,” according to Gastronomica.

Maybe so, but Gregoire was looking forward to his annual Moxie fix.

Then Trump won re-election and took all the fizz out of the Canadian’s vacation plans.

“He has not let up his call to make Canada the 51st state,” Gregoire added. “His negative statements about Canada have been untrue.

“For the above reasons, we have decided to cancel our trip to Maine and to forgo future visits to the U.S. until we feel more welcome.”

That’s just fine with Jeff Holt of Mechanic Falls. Holt said fewer Canadian tourists means “a shorter line at Pier Fries” in Old Orchard Beach “and more room for the rest of us.”

“Like your prime minister is a prize. Get real,” he told Gregoire on Facebook.

That’s ok. I had OUI over 45 years ago ( clean and sober 30+ years now ) and am not allowed over there. Pretty stupid, I would like to ride my motorbike over the border, spend a day, and or night, spend money. Oh well ay.

  2. cheshire cat on February 19, 2025 7:27 AM

GOOD! Keep your worthless phony quarters at home. Anyone that gets all butt hurt over Turd-O we don’t want or need. We got enough of our own clown supporters of Czarina Mills.

Too bad so sad . It sucks to be you .
Stay home . No one will miss you .
A twelve pack of Moxie is too expensive anyway .

Trudumb is a pansy ass and weak “leader” what his policies have done to everyday Canadians can not be supported. You support him, you get what you deserve

  6. R T on February 19, 2025 7:58 AM

Sounds like another leftist Democrat hit piece against Trump. Who cares, stay in Canada, good riddance, the country and the state will still go on.

  7. Boxcar on February 19, 2025 8:10 AM

Conrad Gregoire from Ontario is probably a Joe Biden, Tim Walz, and a Kamala Harris fanboy who also worships a prime minister who’s Fidel Castro’s biological son. The sooner they replace Castro’s son with Pierre Marcel Poilievre, the better Canada will be. (btw, just to enlighten you, Trump was just trolling your braindead minds, and you’re too stupid to know that).

  8. patriot on February 19, 2025 8:21 AM

Ahhhh, hopefully someday the scales will fall off their eyes and see that what Trump wants to do is good for everyone around the world… but, Canadians have been indoctrinated for decades and decades.. they had one news media… that’s it.

  9. ME Infidel on February 19, 2025 8:25 AM

That’s OK. This could lead to one less beer-bellied Speedo wearing Canadian at O.O.B. this summer.

So this maple sap sucker is OK with Canadian police arresting a RC pastor for holding mass? And lets not forgot how the protestors in Ottawa had their bank account frozen. But Trump calling Canada the 51st state is too much?!

  12. Common Sense on February 19, 2025 8:57 AM

Remember this when another Hitler comes around and they begin crying for help !! Besides that, who has any real desire to visit the pinko Country of Canada anyway, just a worthless bunch of Commie cry babies from one end to the other. As long as your attitudes are like this, please, stay home, and we’ll do the same !!

You can’t blame this guy for his remarks he’s a product of a totalitarian government. He and a lot of Canadian people have been brainwashed into believing that being ruled by socialist dictators is a good thing. We should have pity on these poor souls and not make fun of their spineless desire to be cucks. I think the guy who said “it’s like watching a dumb animal play in the road” was spot on.

The summer following 9-11 I was having a late breakfast at a restaurant overlooking the Saco river. Next to me, On the sun filled deck, sat two Canadian women enjoying their stay in the States. One stated to the other ” I wish they would get over this 9-11 thing”
Almost 3,000 People were killed that day and I will not get over it.

Good! Canadians are lousy tippers – ask anyone who’s ever waited on them. Yet when I’m in Canada (conservative=good tipper) I occasionally get accosted by surly wait people there reminding me that they depend on tips before I even leave the table.

  16. DamDoc on February 19, 2025 9:50 AM

We dont want em as a state anyway… they would vote in some canadian like Kamala Harris

  17. Oldenoughtoknowbetter on February 19, 2025 10:14 AM

It’s interesting that you can’t go into Canada because of an OUI (prnounced oou – weee) but the illegals can cruise through Canada without any issues to get to our northern border.

  18. Oldenoughtoknowbetter on February 19, 2025 10:19 AM

My son in-law visits his father in Quebec a few times during the year. I asked him what happened to Canadians when they all went woke. He said that the state run media, the CBC, is all they get for news and many are brainwashed.

  19. Michael on February 19, 2025 10:19 AM

This isn’t an airline…. no need to announce your departure. Also, what a brain-dead and stupid reason not to visit a state that voted for Kamala, for your own PM being a weak, POS human visiting Trump. So please, tell me with your clear logical prowess how Maine has anything to do with any of this…slow clap. Good riddance. Bye Felicia!

  20. Craig on February 19, 2025 10:27 AM

    @billyjoebob .
Haha , same thing happened to me !! Except it was a driving to endanger charge not an oui.. they refused to let me in ! But kept me there for 3 frigging hours!!! I asked them of there was a fee or fine to pay yo get in ,oh boy… they said I could get a letter signed by 3 people saying I was a good person 🙉
I said OK, if I do this where would I send it ? Omfg, …. wait for it, somewhere in N.Y. STATE ! Needless to say I laughed in his face and told him to f off and said don’t worry I’ll never ever be back to your p.o.s. country nor will I ever spend /send any here ever .

this person isn’t the only one who has cancelled. I imagine that the economic harm is going to be widespread for the US. fafo. I got my canadian guest cancellation letter for 25/26 and all their friends are canceling too. In addition the ones that own houses here are selling. Good on them.

  22. Dorotea on February 19, 2025 1:41 PM

Canadians are liars- as soon as the snow melts here, they all start driving here to shop on goodies, farm equipment, motorcycles and parts, car parts, bicycles, clothing, appliances, etc. and they go back afterwards to Canada and resell the recent purchases to fellow Canadians for a profit. And those who don’t do resales, they loaded up on stuff cause here in USA, stuff is a lot cheaper and more choices and more supplies. Canadians are no longer tough and rough mountain type people but pansy sissy butt wipes who let Turdeau a simpleton Soros bought leader self proclaimed prince who scares all the Canadians into being minions instead of fighters.

  23. Dorotea on February 19, 2025 1:44 PM

And yeah what is up with penalizing expel from the USA who have served their time for DUI’s? Their people drive here and back with past DUI’s I know this for a fact having drunkard Canadian cousins.

  24. Corn of the cobb in Maine on February 19, 2025 2:40 PM

Good.. Canadians are so rude and drive like butt-holes. Please stay in Canadia..

TDS is a serious mental disorder, please consult with a professional psychiatric center. Severe TDS is most likely untreatable, but with proper care and a padded cell, TDS can be appropriately managed and help prevent further self-harm.

  26. Dana on February 19, 2025 7:40 PM

I say grow up Maine will be here with or with-out your presents! People can be so small. Trump in the history books will be the greatest president ever.
