Former two-term Republican Governor Paul LePage has filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission and is expected to announce his bid for Maine’s second congressional seat today, a knowledgable source indicates.
First elected governor in 2010, LePage went on to cinch a second term four years later. In 2022, he challenged incumbent Governor Janet Mills (D) but fell short by about thirteen points. Maine’s Second Congressional District skews Republican and has voted for President Donald Trump in three elections.
Originally from Androscoggin County, LePage could lay claim to a significant portion of Republican voters in the district easing his path to a primary victory. According to a Facebook post by Washington County GOP Chair David Whitney, LePage is poised to formally announce his candidacy on Monday, possibly in Eastport.
It remains unclear whether incumbent Rep. Jared Golden (D) will seek another term or launch his own bid for the Blaine House. Rep. Golden won a narrow victory over Fort Kent’s Austin Thierault last fall in a race that was ultimately determined by ranked choice voting — as was Golden’s initial win in 2018.
This is a developing story and The Maine Wire will update it as new facts emerge.

That would be awesome
Come on CD2, make it too big to rig!!!!
I essentially make about $9,000-$13,000 every month on the web. It’s sufficient to serenely supplant my old employments pay, particularly considering I just work around 10-13 hours every week from home. I was stunned how simple it was after I attempted it duplicate underneath web…..

LePage’s last run for governor was horribly managed; Here I was with cash in hand and the local campaign office wouldn’t take it or a check. It was difficult to find someone on the campaign that would accept my donation. Then running against a horribly inept Janet Mills should have been LePage’s race to lose – which he did. I don’t understand what happened and fault either LePage or the people around him for a very lackluster campaign. If Paul LePage truly wants the Congressional seat he should insist on a better campaign and really want to win.
Ranked Choice Voting is the biggest scam ever… We need to get rid of it… and yes, We’ll make it too big to rig!! Maine needs Mainers back , not these progressive liberal out of staters running our gov’t.
Well ALRIGHT !
We need MORE republicans in office in Maine if we are going to save our state from fiscal and moral destruction . Paul Lepage will be a much needed voice in Maine government once again . Shifty and De Money better look for new stomping grounds . Common Sense is coming to town .
Didn’t this loser move to Florida?
Golden won’t run if he thinks RCV can’t save him again. Cowards are like that.
But expect the Democrats to run multiple candidates in every made-up party they can think of to muddy the water in order to help Golden.
Golden running for Governor just shows how delusional his handlers are.
Good news!
Lepage is a Collins Supporter , Makes me view him with a raised eyebrow! He just conned people in his LAME ASSED attempt to run against Mills…Hell it was worse than Moody’s attempt…..Why is he so anxious to get to D.C. …If you tell me it is to help out Maine , YOU ARE A RETARD !!!!!
Great news! LePage should run on 2 issues, immigration and Marxism! Janet mills has turned the corner on working g Mainers, MMGA, Make Maine Great Again! C’mon man!
Maine Republicans need to move on. The commercials Mills ran featuring LePage demonstrated a man who can not control his emotions.
As long as the Maine GOP remains committed to losing, Independents will stay home.
GOP can ‘t win in Maine without Independents and MAGA republicans
Maine needs a change. Democrats are not leaders. We are going backwards. Vote red.
He had best run a MUCH better campaign, than he did for Governor.
It was pitiful.
Hopefully that means Golden’s screwed
dont forget that lepage won through ranked choice voting too
I’m all in on LePage. Great guy who calls it like it is. Definitely has my vote!
