A Chinese national who owns a Chinese food restaurant in Lewiston was taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) earlier this month.
Booking records at the Cumberland County Jail indicate that Xingfeng Dong, 46, was taken into custody by ICE on Tuesday, May 6, and has since been held without bail on a federal immigration hold.
ICE records show that Dong’s country of origin is the People’s Republic of China, though his immigration status is unclear.

Dong operated the Canton Wok Chinese restaurant on Lisbon Street in Lewiston, according to city records reported by WGME.
WGME reports that the restaurant has been open for almost 20 years, but is now displaying a “closed” sign on its entrance.
State records show that Canton Wok has been registered as an LLC for nearly 30 years.
Google’s listing for Canton Wok indicates that the restaurant is permanently closed.
“Canton Wok is a long-standing Lewiston business and this news is surprising. I’m in the process of trying to find out more information,” Lewiston Mayor Carl Sheline said in an email.
