At around 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Portland Police officers responded to the Kennebec Savings Bank at 53 Baxter Boulevard following reports of a bank robbery.
A masked suspect allegedly entered the bank and demanded cash from the teller before successfully escaping with an undisclosed amount of cash and fleeing in the direction of Baxter Boulevard and the Pedro Little League Field. The suspect was able to demand money from the teller without displaying a weapon.
The South Portland Police Department aided in the search for the suspect with K9 units, but an extensive search did not yield any results.
Police have asked the public for help identifying the suspect, who was described as a white male with brown hair, a gray hooded sweatshirt, navy blue jeans, blue latex gloves, a blue Carhart baseball hat, light brown boots, a blue neck gaiter, and sunglasses.

The robbery came just days after a similar incident at the Bangor Savings Bank at 1071 Brighton Avenue on Saturday. The earlier robbery was also carried out by a masked man in sunglasses and a baseball cap who was also strangely unarmed.
The robber’s hat appears to be the same in both incidents, and both men can be seen wearing blue latex gloves.

The Portland Police Department’s press release stated that they are intentionally refusing to comment on whether the two incidents are related.
