At about 8:15 a.m., Bath Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck at the intersection of Richardson Street and High Street.

Emergency responders arrived to discover that a 9-year-old boy was walking to school when he attempted to cross Richardson Street at a crosswalk. At the same time, a Jeep Wrangler driven by a 32-year-old woman from Bath turned left from High Street onto Richardson Street, hitting the child.

The car’s bumper struck the child and pushed him to the ground.

The Bath Police Department is not yet aware of the child’s exact injuries, but they do not believe them to be life-threatening. He was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.

The crash remains under investigation, and it is not yet clear whether the driver was at fault.
