Police executed a search warrant at a Union Street apartment on Wednesday, where they located two individuals and an unspecified amount of cocaine base.
The two individuals were taken into custody and transported to the Penobscot County Jail.
While executing the warrant, officers uncovered evidence that led them to conduct a bail search at a residence on Fling Street. That search resulted in the arrest of another individual and the seizure of additional cocaine base.
Corporal Christopher Woodman and Officer Jasmine Sallies took the lead on the investigation and received assistance from the Brewer Code Enforcement and the Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
Police noted that the drug charges against the arrested individuals were elevated because some of the alleged criminal activities took place inside a designated “drug-free safe zone.”
Though police did not specify where that zone was, that detail, combined with the DHHS involvement and child endangerment charges against two suspects, suggests that the criminal activities may have taken place on school grounds.
Police arrested Jennifer Arnold, 57, of Brewer, on charges of violating conditions of release and drug possession; Shaquille Wright, 32, of Brewer, on charges of endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated drug trafficking; and Nicole Pelkey, 37, of Brewer, on charges of endangering the welfare of a child, aggravated drug trafficking, and drug furnishing.
