At approximately 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, a Biddeford police officer stopped a suspicious vehicle.
The vehicle’s operator, Harley Winchenbach, 33, of Biddeford, initially stopped but allegedly provided the officer with a false name before fleeing in his car.
After Winchenbach allegedly fled, police were able to identify him and learned that he was subject to an active arrest warrant on charges of trafficking in prison contraband and violating conditions of release.
Officers then attempted to take Winchenbach into custody at his home on Congress Street, but he did not comply with them.
The Southern Maine Special Response Team responded to assist the Biddeford Police Department and took Winchenbach into custody without further incident.
He faces charges related to his arrest warrant and additional charges of operating after a habitual offender revocation, failing to stop, failing to provide the correct name, address, or date of birth, and violating the conditions of release.
Police also discovered and arrested Nacole Darling, 39, of North Berwick, who was found at the Congress Street residence, on charges of violating conditions of release.
Both suspects were transported to the York County Jail.
Winchenbach has been arrested repeatedly on multiple drug charges.
