“To the person who took my pocketbook backpack from Hannaford in Hampden would you be so kind to return it?”
The simple heartfelt plea comes from Kayla Young of Winterport, victimized last week while gathering groceries for her family.
“I’m a single mother and as you found out, I’m broke, when you tried to use my debit card to pay for your Monopoly Go,” she posted in a generally-circulated Facebook message.
“Please just bring it back. I need my other stuff in the bag. I don’t even care if you took my gas money.
“Just please drop the backpack back off at Hannaford. Or call me and I will meet someone to grab it.
“No questions asked. I just need it back.”
Young said she is reachable at 207-479-0535.
She told The Maine Wire she got a call Sunday from Hannaford store reps who are advising her they are willing to supply store-security video to police to try to catch the perp.
The Deer Isle native is hoping that the thief will simply come forward anonymously, return her property and save both of them a lot of unnecessary hardship.
