Five people were arrested Thursday in connection with a months-long drug trafficking investigation in Livermore Falls, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency said Friday.
Agents with the MDEA’s Western District Task Force said the arrests followed an inquiry into a drug trafficking organization operating in the area. Officials said community tips and intelligence from local law enforcement helped lead investigators to a residence on Monroe Street.
A search warrant was granted for 8 Monroe St. on Thursday. Before executing the warrant, agents stopped a vehicle tied to the residence and found 102 grams of suspected cocaine, officials said.
Tanya Hill, 38, of Livermore Falls, and Tajuan Washington, 18, of New York, were arrested and charged with trafficking in scheduled “W” drugs. Both were taken to the Androscoggin County Jail on $10,000 cash bail.
At about 3:45 p.m., MDEA agents and Maine State Police’s tactical team executed the warrant on the apartment. Officials said the search resulted in the seizure of 64 grams of cocaine, 143 grams of cocaine base (crack), and a handgun. The street value of the seized drugs was estimated at $12,000.
Messiah Jones, 21, of New York, was charged with aggravated trafficking in scheduled “W” drugs and is being held at the Androscoggin County Jail on $10,000 cash bail following an initial court appearance. Tyquan Commsisso, 27, also of New York, was charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and is held at the jail on $15,000 cash bail. Tammie Stone, 46, of Livermore Falls, was taken into custody on four active arrest warrants.
The investigation remains ongoing, and officials said more arrests are expected.
The Maine State Police, Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office, Livermore Falls Police Department, Jay Police Department, and Franklin County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the search and arrests.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court, the agency said.
The MDEA encouraged anyone with information about illegal drug activity to contact the agency’s local office, text MDEA to TIP411, or call its tip line at 1-800-452-6457.
