The Rockland Police Department arrested an Arkansas sex offender on Sunday for failing to comply with sex offender registration, less than a month after they arrested him for the same crime.

Police conducted a traffic stop on Sunday for a vehicle driven by Jonathon Daugherty, 23, of Arkansas.

During the stop, they learned that he was allegedly refusing to register as a sex offender according to Maine law and violating his conditions of release by failing to comply with court-ordered check-in requirements.

Officers took Daugherty into custody and charged him with violating conditions of release and failure to comply with the sex offender registry.

Daughtery was out on bail following a November 8 arrest for failing to register as a sex offender, failure to provide a correct name and date of birth, and refusing to submit to arrest or detention. He is also subject to a non-extraditable arrest warrant from Arkansas for allegedly failing to comply with that state’s sex-offender registration requirements.

Last month, police discovered Daugherty sleeping in a van with no license plates outside a Rockland business.

He allegedly provided a false name, though police were able to identify him. He allegedly attempted to flee on foot during that investigation, but he was quickly apprehended and taken into custody.
