“These two young men were obviously not thinking with a clear mind, as there are other way to satisfy your sweet tooth. They also forgot there are cameras everywhere, so don’t commit crimes in your pajamas,” said the Kennebec Sheriff’s Department
At approximately 2:30 a.m., Deputy Elijah Curtis responded to the Cobbies Corner Store following reports of a burglary.
The owner of the store showed Curtis security footage of the incident that allegedly depicted two suspects stealing liquor and grabbing candy on the way out before leaving the area in a dark-colored BMW.
The owner also told Curtis that the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office was investigating a similar incident at a business from their county.
Later the same day, the Androscoggin Sheriff’s Department located the BMW, and executed a search warrant at the residence where it was found.
During the warrant execution, the Androscoggin deputies arrested two men: Hunter J. Mathieu, 18, of Farmington, and Wyatt S. Dove, 18, of Leeds.
Deputy Curtis went to the Androscoggin County Jail to interview the two suspects, and one allegedly admitted to breaking into the Wayne store.
Mathieu and Dove are facing charges of burglary and criminal mischief.
