The Rockland Police Department arrested a South Thomaston man on Tuesday after officers allegedly saw him hiding drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop and discovered narcotics in his vehicle.

Officers were patrolling the area of known “nuisance properties” on Tuesday when, around 10:45 p.m., law enforcement stopped a vehicle for traffic violations.

The driver was identified as Timothy Chickering, 24, of South Thomaston, who was initially found to be driving with a suspended license.

During the stop, officers allegedly witnessed Chickering attempting to conceal drug paraphernalia.

Further investigation allegedly revealed a concealed handgun on Chickering’s person and a quantity of illegal drugs in the vehicle.

Chickering was arrested and charged with possession of scheduled drugs, illegal possession of firearms (possession by a user of controlled substances), and motor vehicle violations.
