At approximately 6:40 p.m. on Thursday, officers responded to Sunset Avenue for reports of a man being attacked by his neighbor with a machete.
Officers arrived to determine that the victim had been able to disarm his attacker. The victim suffered multiple lacerations on his head and was transported to a local hospital.
He is expected to recover.
The victim identified his alleged attacker as Zachary Wright, 24, of Bangor, and explained that they had had issues in the past.
Officers later located Wright and took him into custody. He was transported to the Penobscot County Jail, where he faces charges of aggravated attempted murder, elevated aggravated assault, and aggravated assault.
Though the police press release failed to mention any significant time gap between the alleged assault and Wright’s arrest, Penobscot County Jail records show that he was only booked on Tuesday, days after the alleged attack.
It is not clear from the press release what occurred during those days.
