LEWISTON, Maine — Lead Maine, a new conservative education and engagement organization founded by State Rep. Laurel Libby (R), is set to officially launch Tuesday with a sold-out Lewiston event that organizers say underscores rising demand for grassroots leadership and principled civic engagement across the state.
All 150 available spots for the launch event sold out in just a few days, according to the organization, which says it aims to educate everyday Mainers on the issues that affect the state, mobilize citizens to drive long-term societal and electoral change, and advance a conservative Maine where individuals, families, and businesses can flourish.
The launch event will also mark the debut of Libby’s new podcast, “Speak Up with Laurel Libby,” which is billed as a forum for “honest conversations” about culture, policy, and civic engagement in Maine and beyond. The podcast’s inaugural episode is slated to feature Mary Katharine Ham, described as a nationally recognized commentator, author, and media contributor.
“Lead Maine was founded because too many Mainers feel ignored, sidelined, or intimidated into silence,” Libby, the executive director of Lead Maine, said. “Our goal is to equip citizens with the knowledge, confidence, and community they need to speak up, engage, and help shape the future of our state. The overwhelming response to this launch shows that Mainers are ready to lead.”
Due to what it calls high demand, Lead Maine has already scheduled two additional launch events in Washington County and Aroostook County on the 22nd and 23rd, expanding the organization’s reach and offering additional opportunities for engagement across rural and northern Maine.
Lead Maine says it plans to host ongoing educational programming, community events, and initiatives designed to empower citizens and strengthen conservative leadership throughout the state.
