PORTLAND, Maine — Portland Police issued a criminal summons for assault to 54-year-old Gregory Watson of Portland on March 18, 2026, stemming from an incident that allegedly occurred nearly a month earlier on Congress Street, according to information released by the department.
Authorities say the summons relates to an incident reported on February 20, 2026, on Congress Street, one of Portland’s primary downtown corridors. Police have not released details about the nature of the alleged assault, the circumstances surrounding the incident, or whether any injuries were reported.

“This is an ongoing investigation and no further details will be released at this time,” Portland Police Public Information Officer Brad Nadeau said in a statement to the Maine Wire.

Watson, 54, is identified as a Portland resident. He currently serves as a development director in Portland and is also a staff member of the Portland Social Justice Housing Committee.
