PORTLAND, Maine — The Portland Police Department has released its latest weekly calls for service numbers as part of its ongoing effort to provide transparency to the public, offering a snapshot of the types of incidents officers handled over the previous week.

The department said weekly arrest logs and daily media logs are also available through its public statistics page.
The newly released figures show that police made numerous arrests across a range of offenses, with the most common arrest charge for the week being Violating Condition of Release, which appeared 11 times. Warrant arrests followed close behind with 10, along with 10 arrests for Unlawful Possession of Drugs. Criminal Trespass accounted for 9 arrests, while Assault appeared among the top charges with 4.
The weekly service data also reflects the steady volume of calls officers continue to respond to throughout the city. The most common call type was 911 Hang Up Calls, which totaled 134 for the week. Vehicle Crashes were also a significant portion of police activity, with 79 reported. Officers responded to 71 Check Well Being calls, 68 Motor Vehicle Stops, and 59 incidents categorized as Person(s) Bothering.
Among the incidents highlighted by the department was a violent assault reported on March 2 at 1 City Center. Police said officers responded after receiving a report that a security guard had been severely assaulted.
The victim was transported to Maine Medical Center for treatment.
According to police, the suspect was later located on Marginal Way at 5:21 a.m. and taken into custody without incident. After the arrest, the suspect was transported to the Cumberland County Jail.
Police said the person arrested was a 31-year-old unhoused man. He was charged with Aggravated Assault, Robbery, Aggravated Criminal Trespass, Criminal Threatening, and Theft by Unauthorized Taking or Transfer (priors).
