We’ve reached the point in the election cycle where people who know they’re going to lose get really desperate. Case in point: President Joe Biden going to Union Station in Washington, D.C., which in recent years has become a ghost town and bum camp, to give an underwhelming Hail Mary speech filled with anti-MAGA calumny.

The speech didn’t create much buzz and left many political commentators wondering why the White House would wheel out Biden for the event. But over at MSNBC, Biden’s speech sent a tingling down multiple legs.

“Joe Biden is saying the same thing tonight, and a historian 50 years from now โ€“ if historians are allowed to write in this country and if they are still free publishing houses and a free press โ€“ which Iโ€™m not certain of โ€“ but if that is true, a historian will say what was at stake tonight and this week was the fact whether we will be a democracy in the future, whether our children will be arrested and conceivably killed,” said MSNBC commentator Michael Beschloss.

The alleged presidential historian didn’t specify who was going to be killing children or why.

“We’re on the edge of a brutal, authoritarian system,” he said. “And it could be a week away.”

Watch here:

Reacting to Biden's speech, a presidential historian tells MSNBC that we "could be six days away from losing our rule of law" and that we "are on the edge of a brutal authoritarian system" where children will be "arrested and conceivably killed." pic.twitter.com/zJXe7Odrbl
