Stacie Marie Laughton, the first openly transgender woman to win election to a state office in New Hampshire, has been arrested on child pornography charges, the Union Leader reported Thursday.

The former Democratic New Hampshire State Rep. from Nashua was arrested on Thursday on four felony counts of distribution of child sexual abuse images.
Laughton was previously arrested for stalking a woman in Hudson, New Hampshire in 2022, after which Laughton resigned from the public office, just 15 days after assuming the position won in the Nov. 8, 2022 general election.
After becoming a representative-elect for the New Hampshire House of Representatives in 2012, Laughton stepped down due to prior felony convictions for credit card fraud and conspiracy to commit fraud.
Nashua Police were sent to a day care facility in Tyngsboro, Massachusetts, on Tuesday, where the reporting parties indicated that Laughton “distributed sexually explicit images of children,” said Sgt. John Cinelli, public information officer for the Nashua Police Department, according to Patch.
“Detectives from the special investigations division were assigned to further the investigation. They applied for and were granted a warrant for Laughton’s arrest,” Cinelli said.
Laughton is being held on preventative detention and will be arraigned in the Hillsborough County Superior Court-South on Friday.
Earlier on Thursday, Nashua Police arrested 38-year-old Lindsay Groves of Hudson, New Hampshire at the Tyngsboro day care center on charges of sexual exploitation of children and distribution of child pornography.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office of Massachusetts said in a press release Thursday that Groves allegedly used her position at the Creative Minds day care center in Tyngsboro to take nude images of children, some aged approximately three to five years old, and sent the photos to “an individual with whom she was previously in an intimate relationship.”
“Specifically, Groves allegedly used natural bathroom breaks for the children (routine diaper/pull-up changes prior to ‘naptime’) to take multiple photos of the prepubescent children in a private bathroom and then sent the photos to the individual via text messages,” the press release said.
A forensic review of Grove’s cellphone allegedly revealed over 2,500 text messages between Groves and the individual, the Massachusetts U.S. Attorney’s Office stated.
According to NBC Boston, the Nashua Police Department confirmed that the later arrest of Laughton on Thursday was made in connection to the Tyngsboro day care center case, but did not reveal whether Laughton was the person to whom Groves is accused of sending the photos.
“Creative Minds Early Education is cooperating fully with law enforcement to ensure a complete and extensive investigation into the allegations regarding a single former staff member,” the day care company said in a statement to NBC Boston.
“We want to ensure our families that their children’s safety and privacy is of the utmost importance. We will make every effort to support all of our families during this difficult time. We are requesting that members of the media please respect our privacy as well as the privacy of our families,” they said.

I am a transgender woman and I can assure you, the majority aren’t like this and I’m deeply sickened why what they have done, I’m also not happy that people like this are adding to statistics and giving us trans people a bad name. I’m fed up of all the gender politics and just want to get on with my life.
There is also a good chance this person is infact a man masquarading as a woman in order to more easily and more discretely perform crimes typically carried out by men. I’d hate it if transgender women and such masqueraders get confused as one by people, it doesn’t make me feel safe in this world where I just want to live in peace and harmony.
This should be a strong warning to America that should make every normal person in America worried. If this is the first, there will be more of the same cases on a nationwide level. the man’s girlfriend was an LGBT activist. What was happening was a Pedophile ring.
These people are mentally unstable and they’re already medicated at high levels. Our children are not safe around them.
Better for a millstone to be hung around your neck and that you be thrown in the depths of the sea than to hurt these little ones!
